Home - Projects Index - Card project Poppies with beads cardDescriptionA dark red card has a cover of vellum parchment paper held with a red ribbon. The vellum is stamped with a poppy design. The poppy is coloured on the back of the vellum with felt pens, giving a subtle pastel effect. The vellum is embossed on the poppy design. Small black beads are added to represent the poppy stamens. Materials used
MethodThe card is in two parts. A base of dark red card, with a sheet of natural coloured vellum parchment paper over the top, giving the appearance of a pastel red. Cut the parchment paper to the same size as the open greeting card. This will fold round the card. Stamp the poppy design on the area of the parchment paper that will be the front of the card. Allow the ink to dry. Emboss the poppy design on the parchment paper. Place the parchment paper face down on an embossing pad and work over the design with a medium embossing tool. Colour the poppy on the back of the parchment paper with felt pens. This gives a pastel effect when viewed from the front. Glue the small black beads around the centre of the poppy flowers with PVA adhesive or a Changin' glue pen. Allow the glue to dry. Fold the parchment paper in half and place over the red greeting card. Punch two holes for the ribbon. Fix the ribbon and tie with a bow. The poppy with beads card made by Rachel Snook.
