Cracker card

Cracker card

Description

A dark red deckle edge card has a Christmas cracker made of gold card and green, red and gold fabric. The cracker is pulling apart at the centre with an explosion of iridescent threads. The card is edged in gold. Gold stars and a Merry Christmas sticker complete the design.

Materials used

  • Dark red single fold greetings card with deckle edges 104mm x 152mm (4¼ in x 6in)
  • Linen gold card
  • Fabric
  • Iridescent threads
  • Gold bows
  • Sticker gold Merry Christmas
  • Sticker gold stars
  • Double-sided self-adhesive sheet
  • Krylon gold pen
  • Card adhesive
  • Scissors

Method

DetailCut the cracker shape from linen gold card.

Cut a rectangle of fabric slightly larger than the finished design. Cut a similar size piece of double-sided self-adhesive sheet. Peel off one side of the backing and put the fabric on it. Cut the fabric to the finished size. This should be the same size as the centre part of the cracker. Use the illustration as a guide.

Cut a ziz-zag through the centre of the fabric rectangle. Take one of the two fabric pieces and strip off the other side of the peel-off backing for half of the length. Leave the other part of the backing in place. Mount the fabric on the gold card cracker using the illustration as a guide.

Repeat with the other fabric piece mounting it at the other end of the cracker.

Edge the red greetings card with gold with a Krylon pen.

Mount the cracker on the card with adhesive or double-sided tape.

Add a Merry Christmas sticker to the card.

Add gold star stickers to the card.

Work some Iridescent threads between the ziz-zag of the cracker. They are held in place by the springiness of the material on its backing. Add two gold bows to the cracker.
